What an exciting week it has been getting ready to begin the 2017/2018 school year! I had the pleasure of meeting many of you at our Trinity Nation Orientation Day on Monday. Many of you had the opportunity to set up your lockers and tour around the school to have a peek at some of your classrooms. If you were unable to join us, not to worry! We will spend plenty of time getting used to our new surroundings on Tuesday.
I teach grade 7 math, physical and health education, and social studies. This will be my 14th year teaching, and my 8th at Holy Trinity. I love this school and am optimistic that you will too! You will receive plenty of information about the many opportunities you will have to get involved in your school community this year.
So what do you need? The school provides essential materials for learning, but it is important that you have the following items with you each day: pencils, pens, a calculator, a dry erase marker, and your notebook or binder for each class. Although each class will have limited access to Chromebooks, we are a BYOD (bring your own device) school, meaning it is suggested that each student brings their own chromebook or laptop to class.
This blog will serve to keep you and your families informed of what is going on in the classroom and the school. It is also recommended that you follow me on twitter @MsDonohueClass for class updates and to access additional learning resources such as videos and weblinks. I hope to post pictures of classroom happenings so that your families can share in your learning experiences!
I will leave you for know with some important dates coming up in September:
Tuesday September 5th: FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!
Thursday September 15th: Meet the Teacher Night
Thursday September 21st: School Photo Day
Friday September 29th: Terry Fox Run and School BBQ
If you or your parents have any questions/concerns, do not hesitate to email me at seana.donohue@ocsb.ca. Looking forward to meeting all of you!
Ms. D
