Happening This Week (Sept. 25-29)

With temperatures like this, it's hard to believe we are heading into the last week of September! I hope everyone had a chance to enjoy the sunshine this weekend. Looking forward to reviewing our Multiples SWYK on Monday and Tuesday. We will explore what "mastery" looks like, and work on our math communication skills. This week we will also be continuing to explore factors and will be looking at primes and composites. We will most likely be finishing out the week with another SWYK. Don't forget extra math help is available at lunch Monday-Thursday, as posted throughout the hallways. In Phys. Ed. we will be indoors honing our basketball skills, and in history I look forward to receiving your "Why Study History?" advertisements, that are due at the start of class on Weds. Please remember our very important Terry Fox fundraiser as we head into the week. This cause is so important and it is one that touches each of us in some way, as you saw during last w

Happening This Week (September 18-22)

It was so nice to meet so many of you this past Thursday! I am lucky to have students that have such enthusiastic and supportive parents! If you were unable to make it, no problem, ask your son/daughter to pick you up a Tips For Success handout. Last week we had our first Show What You Know on Friday. Students will receive these back and bring them home to be signed this week. This week we will be exploring the Rules of Divisibility and using them to determine the factors and GCF's of numbers. Check out some of the new additions to our Number Sense Workspace. We will have some Check-Ins along the way, but no summative assessments until the following week. As we will be using our Workspaces on a regular basis, it is important for students to bring their laptops or chromebooks to each class. We do have a few in the classroom that students can borrow, but there are definitely not enough to go around. The students are allowed to bring them to their lockers at the end of each cla

Happening This Week (Sept 11 - Sept 15)

Phew!  What a week we had! Hope everyone had a chance to catch their breath after a busy and active first week! This week promises to be another busy one, with many sports and clubs beginning, and Meet the teacher on Thursday evening. Don't forget to follow me @MsDonohueClass for frequent updates and details about coming events. In math we will be exploring multiples. Students will have a chance to show what they know by mid-week. In Physical education we will be inside most days working on our volleyball skills. We may get a chance to continue with some games of low organization outside, judging by the beautiful forecast. Stay tuned for more details. In Social Studies we will be continuing to examine important moments in our own lives, and we will get a chance to share some of these moments on Friday. Important Dates: Thursday September 14: Meet the Teacher- Don't forget to share your Thursday schedule with your parents so that they can attend your classes that evening!

Welcome!

What an exciting week it has been getting ready to begin the 2017/2018 school year! I had the pleasure of meeting many of you at our Trinity Nation Orientation Day on Monday. Many of you had the opportunity to set up your lockers and tour around the school to have a peek at some of your classrooms. If you were unable to join us, not to worry! We will spend plenty of time getting used to our new surroundings on Tuesday. I teach grade 7 math, physical and health education, and social studies. This will be my 14th year teaching, and my 8th at Holy Trinity. I love this school and am optimistic that you will too! You will receive plenty of information about the many opportunities you will have to get involved in your school community this year. So what do you need? The school provides essential materials for learning, but it is important that you have the following items with you each day: pencils, pens, a calculator, a dry erase marker, and your notebook or binder for each class.
